William Earl Howard was affectionately, known as “Earl”, departed this life to be with the Lord on March 3, 2025. He was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. William (Pick) and Geneva Howard. He was born July 24, 1953 in Mullins, SC and was the fourth of eight children, two of whom has preceded him in death: the late Ivery Ozzie Lee (Buddy) Howard and the late Lyndale (Dale) Howard. Earl was also preceded in death by his daughter the late Tracy Howard.
Earl leaves to cherish: one son, Christopher Andre Howard of Columbia SC, two grandchildren Meghan and Caitlyn Howard; Four sisters, Rena (Mill) Bell of Marion, SC, Jewel (Douglas) Fullard of Woodbridge Virginia, Martharie (Jerry) Moore of Dale City Virginia and Lora Ann (Copeland) Williams of Stafford Virginia; One brother, Vernon Howard of Marion SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Earl was raised in a Christian family who loved the Lord. At an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and savior. He was often described as a smart, humbled person with a genuine spirit.
Earl received his early education in the Marion County public school system. He attended Rains-Centenary High School and was a member of the basketball team. He graduated from high school in 1974. He later attended Claflin University, located in Orangeburg, SC and majored in Art Studies.
Earl was employed as a mechanic at Sarah Lee Hosiery (Marion SC) where he received a notable award. In his early years, Earl relocated to the Washington DC (DMV) metropolian area. He attended the “District of Columbia Department of Corrections Training Academy” and graduated receiving a diploma. As a result of this accomplishment, he was employed as a Corrections Officer and served as an Honor Guard.
Earl was a multifaceted individual with diverse trades and talents. He was astute and extremely knowledgeable in past and current history events around the world. He was artistic and aesthetic of nature, he was a musician with his #1 instrument being the guitar & played popular music genres such as Gospel, R&B, Country etc., Earl was a woodsman and had the eye of an architect and faculties to build almost anything, hunting and fishing was one of his all time favorites, he had a unique skillset for shooting bow and arrows, he had a passion for fancy Trans-am cars, corvettes and trucks. He also had auto mechanical skills.
