Vikki Michelle Burton – HER STORY/HER LIFE

    Vikki Michelle Burton, the 4th child and only daughter born to William Burton, Jr. and Barbara Rose Ford Burton on May 22, 1968, departed this life on April 23, 2025 at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital in Florence, South Carolina.

    Vikki graduated from Lake View High School with Honors. She furthered her education at Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina. She obtained a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Social Work. While at Benedict College she pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

    Vikki worked for ten years as a Social Worker at Lake View High School through the Dillon County Department of Social Services Special Social Services Program. She then obtained work with Robeson County Social Service Agency in North Carolina, leaving in 2016 due to health issues.

    Upon graduating from high school Vikki spent her summers in New York, where because of her personality and work ethics she always had a job waiting for her every summer with the Richardson Family. Upon graduating from college, the Richardson Family was there to show their love and support.

   Vikki joined Union AME Church as a child. She loved the Lord and she love the work of the church. She had a melodious voice and she sang on two choirs, she served as Director of Christian Education, a Stewardess and as treasurer of the Organized Lay. Vikki had a personal relationship with God, which was reflected in her private life and when she was called on to offer prayer, she did so without hesitation. Vikki served as Director of the Union AME Church Learning Center, where her love for children and serving was fulfilled.

    Vikki was preceded in death by her parents, William and Barbara Burton and her youngest brother Darrell Burton.

    Vikki leaves to cherish her memories, three brothers: Regional A. Burton, William Burton, III and Kevin Burton; three sisters-in-law: Joyce Burton, Sadie Burton and Tracie Burton; six aunts: Roberta Burton, Wilma B. Hunter, Gloria Burton, Patricia B. Reedman, Emma Lee and Geneva Nance; one uncle: James Hunter; two nephews: Kevin Williams and Daniel Burton; two nieces: Diana Seeman and Kaytia Smith; a host of cousins and friends, a special cousin/friend: Angela Gilliam and a special friend: Ronnie Ford.
