On Friday, September 27,2024, the patriarch of the family, Stafford “Junebug” Rogers departed his earthly walk of life. He was the fourth out of ten children born to the late Kemper Rogers and Willena Brown Rogers. He was born on July 16,1944 in Dillon County. He was proceeded in death by four siblings, Elizabeth Brown, Willie Rogers, Rufus Rogers, and Audrey Shelton.
Stafford attended Columbus High School in Lake View, SC. He joined Union A.M.E church at an early age. He was acknowledged as one of the great African American tobacco farmers in the Lake View community. His passion was taking care of family, cooking, farming, carpentry & gardening just to name a few. He was truly a jack of all trades. He always had multiple gardens to make sure that family was fed. Although he was a man of few words, he was always loving and a joy to be around. And always “ready to go”!!
Stafford leaves behind a loving family who will forever treasure his memory; wife of 59 years Roberta Worley Rogers. Six siblings: Linda (Namon) Bradley, Donna (Author) Poole, Jimmy Rogers, Ronald Rogers, Sylvester (Beverly) Rogers, and Michelle Howard. Eight children: Linda Rogers, Steve Rogers, GermontRogers, Gwendolyn (Alphonso) Robinson, Julia Ann Nance, Marilyn Johnson, James Worley, Lee Rogers, and Andrew Bethea. Eleven grandchildren: Crystal Fontaine, Brian Rogers, Derrick Page, Latoya (Monte) Page, Dena (Tiron) Page, Juneatta(Khalid) Olenja, Tiana (Anthony) Brown, Jamaris Thompson, Javon Strickland, Terrell Bethea, and A’Kiriya Christian. A special nephew Tim Rogers. 22 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. A special aide, Shonda Little.
