Mrs. Rhodell Snowden McFadden was born to the late Samuel and Ida Cooper Snowden on December 28, 1931 in Kingstree, South Carolina. She departed her earthly life on July 15, 2020 at home in Lake View, South Carolina.
Rhodell was united in holy matrimony to the late Dr. Davis Larkins McFadden (D.L.) on August 3, 1956. This union was blessed with two children.
Rhodell attended the Williamsburg County public schools. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics Education from Claflin College in Orangeburg, South Carolina and a Master of Science degree in Mathematics from Governors State University in University Park, Illinois. She taught mathematics and science as well as being licensed to practice nursing in Illinois, North Carolina, and South Carolina for thirty-seven years. She was a member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. (first President of Eta Chi Zeta Graduate Chapter- Joliet, Illinois) and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Rhodell accepted Jesus as her personal Savior at an early age. She attended Union African Methodist Episcopal Church in Lake View, South Carolina until her health declined. She believed that a person should strive to reach for the stars by the help of God.
Rhodell was preceded in death by Joe, Willie, Samuel Jr., Otis, Roosevelt, Nellie, Mazzie, Eliza, Susie, and Baby Girl Snowden. She leaves to cherish fond memories to two daughters: Davenia (Naseer) El-Kadi of Bradenton, Florida and Davet L. McFadden (Toney McDuffie) of Lake View, South Carolina; three grandchildren: LaQueta McFadden of the home, Davis El-Kadi of Palmetto, Florida, and DeAsia Reaves of Lake View, South Carolina; one great-granddaughter: Yasmine McFadden of the home; one god-daughter: Tonya Eaddy of Mount Laurel, New Jersey; one sister: Nancy Snowden of Decatur, Georgia; two brothers: Harry (Ethel Mae) Snowden of Columbia, South Carolina and Rev. Rufus (Rev. Mary Ann) Snowden of Kingstree, South Carolina; two sister-in-laws: Lillian (R.F.) Wilson of Hemingway, South Carolina and Audrey Burgess of Wilmington, North Carolina; one brother-in-law: Thurman (Ayres) Burgess of Wilmington, North Carolina, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. A special friend: Naomi Thompson.
