Mary Dudley

~ The Obituary ~

    Ms. Mary Platt Dudley, eldest daughter of the late Worth and Aqwilla Platt, was born April 28, 1924 in Lake View, South Carolina. She departed this life on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at the age of 99. Mary attended public schools of Marietta, North Carolina and Mullins, South Carolina.

    Mary had successful employment at James Lovell Veterans Hospital in North Chicago, Illinois, Lake Forest Hospital in Lake Forest, Illinois. When her father, Worth, Sr. became ill she moved back to Mullins, South Carolina to care for him. Mary also became a caregiver to family members and friends. She has been a member of Eastern Star for 35 years and also served as secretary.

    Mary is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers: Worth Platt, Jr., Henry Platt, Willie Platt, Ernest Platt and two sisters: Esther and Earnestine.

    Mary did not have children but has been a special presence in the lives of many nieces, nephews, caregivers and other grandkin. She is known for her acknowledgement of birthdays from elders all the way down to great grandkin.  She leaves to cherish her memory to family members and friends.
