Mae Gerald Obituary

Mrs. Mae Frances Longs Gerald, departed this life on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at home. She was born August 18, 1932 to the late Johnny and Minnie G. Longs. She is preceded in death by three other sibling: CG Longs, Johnny Longs Jr. and Earnest Longs. She attended the public schools of Mullins. At an early age, she joined Ellen Chapel Holiness Church, Mullins, SC. Later in life she met the love of her life, James Gerald and joined Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church, where she attended until her health failed.

On April 15, 1951, they were joined in holy matrimony. To this union, seven children were born: Margorie Jean (Major Washington deceased) James, Gerald Jr., Linda Faye Gerald Platt, Ray Charles Gerald, Benny (Renee) Gerald, North Chicago, IL, Minnie Ruth (Liston) Swinton and Andrea (Cliston) Pernell).

She leaves to cherish 25 grandchildren, three special she raised as her own: Chris, Techecka and Tanisha; 49 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; a very special cousin, Ronald Harry Donnelly; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

She served as a Sunday school teacher and president of the senior choir. In addition serving as a devoted missionary. She always instilled in her children that family unity was very important. She always said to love one another and always share with one another. She was a fifirm believer in prayer and would pray until the power of God fell upon her. She prayed three times a day. We have fond memories of her praying when we were outside playing. She could be heard in the neighborhood praising God. She always kept a praise in her heart and whereever she was she let God have his way.
