Mr. Herbert Leon “Dick” Rogers, son of the late Furman and Evelyn Rogers was born in Marion County, South Carolina on August 19, 1952. He departed this life on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC.
He was educated in the public school in Britton’s Neck, SC and later moved to Brooklyn, NY and attended Boy’s High School. He remained in New York and later moved to Patrick, SC in the mid ‘80s.
Herbertwas married to the late Annie H. Rogers. Three siblings precedes him to the grave: Chester, Edward “Bobby” and Jennifer Rogers; one stepson: Alton Graves.
He leaves to cherish loving memories, a son: Bernard Sims; one stepson: Allen Graves of Queens, NY; one stepdaughter: Laura James of Brooklyn, NY; one brother: Steve (Frances) Rogers of Brooklyn, NY; five sisters: Anne (Robert) Bennett of Titusville, FL; Judy Graves of Albany, NY, Gloria (Bobby) Rogers, Lisa (Rex) Graves, of Gresham, SC; Sharon Rogers of Columbia, SC; seven grandchildren: Lester Chambers, Desmond Chambers, Toni Veal, Allen Graves, Richard Graves, Jaharra Graves, Al Jahi Graves; sixteen great-grandchildren; four aunts: Hattie Gagum, Gloria Graves, Irene Rogers and one special aunt: Juanita Bacchus; three uncles: Paul (Phoenix) Graves, Johnny (Charlene) Graves, Lester (Teresa) Graves; five sisters-in-law: Jeanette (LJ) Johnson, Sandra Wilkins, Debra Harell, Bonnie (Rev. Richard) Crummy and Tara Graves; two brothers-in-law; Tommy (Gwen) Hawkins and Ray (Val) Hawkins; three special friends: Tommy Hawkins, Ronnie Marshall and “Buddie Row” Marshall; and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
