Gene Bennett, son of Edward S. Bennett and Ruby Mae Bennett was born August 26, 1952. Gene was called home on Wednesday, August 12, 2020.
Gene accepted Christ as his personal savior and was a faithful member of Williams Chapel AME Church, Nichols, South Carolina.
Gene loved his church and family. He attended and graduated from Floyds High School in Horry County. Gene worked various jobs in North and South Carolina. Later attending and graduating from the Criminal Justice Academy in Columbia, South Carolina. He began his law enforcement career as a Deputy Sheriff in Marion County and later working as a Process Server and Security at the Marion County Court House.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife of 45 years, Marilyn Bennett; one son: Gene A. Bennett of the home; one daughter: Regina Leonard (Anthony) of Mullins, SC; two grandchildren: Morgan Leonard and Jordan Williams of Mullins, SC; two sisters: Hazel B. Moore of Hampstead, NC; Daffie Bennett of Mullins, SC; four brothers: William Bennett of Rockaway, NY, Robert Bennett, Fair Bluff, NC; James Bennett of Florence, SC; Ronald Bennett (Crystal) of Syracuse, NY; three sisters-in-law: Joyce Stackhouse (Irish Frank) and Pearl Bennett of Marion, SC and Burnette Lee (Robert) of Nichols, SC, one brother-in-law: Phillip Murphy of Elmhurst, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death: one sister: Louise Stackhouse; one Brother; Henry Bennett.
