Edna Hobson Obituary

Edna Earl Hobson was born in Horry County, South Carolina, on May 19, 1941, to the late Willis and Eva Reaves. She peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Tallahassee, Florida.

Edna was a 1959 graduate of Finklea High School in Loris, South Carolina. Upon graduation, she moved to New York, New Haven, and Washington, DC. Edna was employed at Miles Laboratory in Connecticut for over thirty years as a Technician in their Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Facility.

Edna met and married Charles Kelly, and later in life married Pete Hobson. After retiring, she returned to South Carolina to lovinglycare for her ailing mother until her passing. During her years in New Haven, Edna enjoyed traveling, was actively involved in various social clubs, and embraced life with enthusiasm. An avid “do-it-,” she loved exploring new things, meeting new people, and staying actively engaged with those around her.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and five brothers: Charles, Hubert, Thurman, Curtis, and Herman.  Those left to cherish fond memories of Edna include, her son, Mark Kelly (Marsha) of Tallahassee, Florida; three grandchildren, Shemecka McNeil of Durham, North Carolina, Ravin Kelly of Columbia, South Carolina and Isaac Kelly, of Tallahassee; a great-grandchild, Raelyn Brown of Columbia; her brother, Frank Reaves (Shirley) of Fayetteville, North Carolina; a special nephew, Joe Reaves of Charlotte, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, other nephews, cousins and dear friends, whose lives she touched deeply.
