Eddie Ford Obituary

~ The Obituary ~

The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear:              Psalm 27:1

Eddie Boyd Ford courageously answered the master’s call to peace and eternal life on Monday, June 6, 2022. He entered this mortal life on October 30, 1935 as the son and eighth child of the late Ben and Azalee (Mary) Ford, all preceded him in death except Betty Jean Du. Eddie excelled at Columbus High School in Lake View, SC where he attended and completed public school. At an early age, he joined Shady Grove Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School and was known as a great teacher. After completing high school he enlisted in the U.S Navy. During this time he met and married Willie Dell and was married on June 24th 1959 and they were blessed with four children: JoAnn(Bill) Ford of Aiken SC, Melvedine (Arthur) Tucker of  Madson, AL, Quanda Ford (Herman) Anthony of Columbia SC, Eddie B. Ford, Jr. of Greensboro, NC.

Upon his return to Lake View, he assumed the role of Sunday school teacher and his momma’s church boy he accepted and understood the importance of Jesus in his life as his Lord and Savior. The kids at Shady Grove knew that Sunday School would be well taught and ended with sweet treats in the form of candy and gum.

Eddie deepened his commitment to God and Shady Grove by becoming an Ordained Deacon. Upon his retirement from the Navy in 1974 he started a new career at Wixs in Dillon, SC where he worked for 20 years as a Quality Control Inspector. During this time he joined St. Mark Lodge #71 and served faithfully for the next five years. He continued to be a faithful member of the church until he was no longer able to.

Left to fondly cherish his memories are Willie Dell Ford, his love for 63 years; his four children; his baby sister: Betty Jean Durham (Buster deceased) of Baltimore MD; six grandchildren: Imani J. Tucker of New Haven CT, Kaylyn Anthony of Columbia SC, Arthur Tucker Jr of Madison AL, Mariah Anthony of Columbia SC, Mya B. Ford of Raleigh NC, Gabriel Ford of Raleigh, NC.

He was preceded in death by his loving siblings, Hattie Pyle, Bertha Lee Ford, Alma Nichols, Ben Ford, Sam (Wisdom) Ford, Hildon Ford and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
