Dr. Daniel Warren Blue, Jr.,

Dr. Daniel Warren Blue, Jr. was born and reared in Dillon, South Carolina on April 22, 1939 to the late Daniel W. Blue, Sr. and Ida Mae Bethea Blue. He leaves to cherish fond memories, a devoted wife Susie Blue and his two children Daniel Warren Blue, III and Susan Danielle Blue.  He leaves behind two brothers:   Reverend Dr. Franklin Blue (Lucinda) and Terry Blue.  He was predeceased by his sister Norma Blue Whitfield (Johnny), brothers Victor L. Blue (Gail), James Lester Blue (Audrey), Charles Blue (Niecy) and Fernando Blue.

Daniel was educated in the Dillon County School Systems, a 1956 graduate of Gordon High School and 1960 graduate of Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina (B.A. in Education).  He was in the United States Army from 1963-1965 (Honorable Discharge).  In 1965, he was a graduate of the Newark, New Jersey Police Academy.  In 1970, he graduated from Vale School of Real Estate and Insurance in Maplewood, New Jersey.  In 1977, Daniel obtained his Master of Public Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford, New Jersey. And in 1981, he earned his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey.

Daniel began his career in Newark, New Jersey as a Teacher in Special Education with the Board of Education. He then became a Detective within the Community Relations Bureau, Patrol Division, Tactical Unit, the High Crime Unit and Plain Clothes Task Force of the Newark, New Jersey Police Department.  He was the Executive Director of the Human Rights Commission.  Daniel was the Chief of Staff to the Mayor of Newark, New Jersey, he served as the Assistant Executive Director of the Newark Housing Authority and then later went on to serve as the Executive Director of the Newark Housing Authority.  Dr. Blue was appointed by the United States Congress to serve on the National Commission of Severely Distressed Public Housing In America.   He owned and operated Dillon Security Company-an armed and unarmed security agency in Newark, New Jersey.

Daniel then became the Deputy Chief Operating Officer of the Chicago Housing Authority in Chicago, Illinois.  When he returned to South Carolina, he became the Executive Director of the Atlantic Beach, South Carolina Housing Authority and the Executive Director of Dillon County First Steps.  Once retired, he became the Chairman and CEO of Omega International, Inc. and the President of The Blue Group, Inc.

Daniel had a Life Membership and a Golden Heritage Life Membership with the (NAACP), he was also a member of the following:  Marion County Economic Development Commission, Marion County Healthcare Systems, Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Marion County Progress, Mullins Chamber of Commerce, National Black Public Relations Society, Marion County (NAACP) Branch President for more than ten years, Marion County Human Relations Commission, Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities, Who’s Who Among Black Americans, Community Leaders and Noteworthy Americans, Claflin University Alumni Association and the Fairleigh Dickinson University Alumni Association.  He served on numerous boards and commissions throughout his career and he had numerous certifications and licensures in various capacities.

Daniel leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and good friends who will miss him dearly.
