Dorothy Lackland

~ The Obituary ~

    Dorothy Gerald Lackland was born June 2, 1947 in Marion County, South Carolina to Luther and Vernevia Verner Gerald who preceded her in death. Dorothy, who was affectionally known as “Dot”, was the second of seven children born to this union.  One sister and one brother preceded her in death who died in infancy.

    Dorothy accepted Christ at an early age.  She was a faithful member of Nazarene Baptist Church. She emulated the life of Christ with her compassion, kindheartedness, love and giving to everyone who came into contact with her.  

    Dorothy was born and raised in Mullins, attended Nazarene Elementary School as a gifted student at the age of four, and later Palmetto Elementary and Palmetto High Schools. She began her career at Howard University, Washington, D.C. where she met her husband affectionately known as “Ted Lackland”.  

    Dorothy managed the Atlanta Law Firm of Lackland and Associates, LLC for many years.  Prior to this, she held the position of Manager with Apple, Inc. of Atlanta, GA; and worked with Arthur Anderson Accounting Firm in Newark, NJ.  In addition, she established multiple companies under her own Blue Chip, Inc. brand.

    Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted and loving husband of 51 years, Theodore H. Lackland, Esquire, of Marietta, GA; their beloved daughter, Jennifer Noel Lackland, Marietta, GA; her beloved sister, Diana Gerald Campbell, Sacramento, CA; three brothers: Rev. Henry C. Gerald (Cynthia), Sacramento, CA, Huey L. Gerald (Glenda), Marietta, GA, Levern Gerald (Hannah), Columbia, SC; two sisters-in-law:Eartha S. Gerald, Columbia, SC and Mary Tuff (Douglas deceased), Chicago, IL; one brother-in-law: Anthony Lackland, Chicago, IL; eight nieces and nephews: Jeff, Camari, Melanye, Corbin, Amber, Joy, Brittany and Connie; grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins and many, many friends.
