Doris began her life’s journey on April 23, 1933. She was born to the late Ben and Caroline Arnette. She transitioned into eternal rest on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at McLeod Hospice, after an illness. Doris has four sisters, one brother, one grandson and one great-grandson who preceded her in death.
Doris attended the public schools of Robeson County, NC. At an early age, she joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in Marietta, NC. After marriage, she later joined Union African Methodist Episcopal Church in Lake View, SC.
Doris was married to the late David Bruce Nance, Jr. the son of the late David and Viola Nance. To this union four children were born: one of which precedes her in death, Dorothy Lee Nance.
She leaves to cherish her memories, three sons: Robert (Linda) Nance, Matthew Nance, Len Earl (Sharon) Nance all of Lake View, SC; her grandchildren: Regina Nance, Chantago Gilchrist, Jomo Campbell, Kendal Nance, Monte Kent, Damorus and Damorya Nance, Janice, Jeffrey and Johniece Harris all of Maryland; sixteen great grands and seven great-great grands; her beloved sisters: Esther (James) McEachern, Ann B. Pittman all of Baltimore, MD. Doris has one favorite cousin Reatha Walker of New York; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
