Chester Lee, son of the late Grace Darling Lee, was born on March 29, 1952 in Nichols, SC. He was reared in the home of his grandparents, the late Mackenzie and Beulah Lee. He departed this life on Monday, June 15, 2020 at MUSC Hospital, Mullins, SC.
Chester attended the public schools of Mullins, SC. His employment included Spring Mills MFC, Mullins, SC and Pilliod MFC, Nichols, Sc. He retired from the Marion County School District in 2015 after nine and half years of employment as custodian and bus driver. His pastime was lending a helping hand, as a maintenance assistant to Junior Bass and Ernest Herring at Marion Apartments, Marion, SC.
Chester was a quick thinker and it showed up in his conversations. He had a love for people and was very friendly. He was a devoted husband and loving father.
Chester was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and received the gift of the Holy Ghost at Progressive Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Inc., Mullins, SC. He was a very faithful member of the church in the capacities of Sunday School Teacher, Usher, and Deacon under the leadership of his pastor Elder Roy Brockington.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parent, grandparents, his sons: Timothy LaRon Lee and Tyrone Lee; and cousin reared like a sister: Sharon Moton.
Deacon Chester Lee leaves to cherish fond and loving memories: his devoted wife of forty-one years, Helen Crawford Lee of the home; three beloved children: Edward Mackenzie Lee and Debra Ann Lee both of Mullins, SC and Matthew Chester (Margaret) Lee of Marion, SC; cousin reared as a brother: Andre “Cookie” Smith of Seattle, WA; a very special cousin: Leverne Lee of New Jersey; grandsons: TyQuarious Legette of Mullins, SC, Carolina, Corbyn lee, Chayce Wilds, and Chad Wilds all of Marion, SC; uncle: James Henry Lee of Dillon, SC; aunts: Ruth Burke of Nichols, SC and Mary Francis Williams of New York, NY; five brothers-in-law; two sisters-in- law; special friend: Roy Owens of Mullins, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
