~ The Obituary ~
Ms. Carnelius McCray was born April 23, 1938,in Marion, South Carolina to the late Mack Reaves and Lillian Leonard. She departed this life on March 18, 2025. Ms. McCray loved having gatherings with her family, friends and good food.
Ms. McCray was a well-known member of the Mullins Community.
She worked in a few manufacturing industries over the years and provided care for other family members when needed. Ms. McCray has two sons: Malcolm Reaves (preceded in death), Kenneth Reaves, “Kemp” (Joe Ann) of Mullins; one stepdaughter: Brenda Berry of Mullins; two grandsons: Junior Reaves (Shalonda) of Florence, Jerry Reaves (Marquerite), of Mullins.
Ms. McCray was a member of the Church of Christ for 16 years. She loved learning about God’s word and spending time with the body of Christ.
She leaves to cherish fond memories: one sibling Barbara Jean Reaves of Mullins; one biological granddaughter: Chasity Gamble (Antonio);granddaughter: Joanna Polite (Nathaniel), of Georgia Charlotte, NC, four additional biological grandsons: Cameron Reaves of Mullins, Tory Williams of Marion and Kendrick Reed of Myrtle Beach, SC; thirteen great-grands, twelve great-great grands; two favorite nieces: Karen Hamilton of California and Hattie Q. Staggers; adopted by love grandsons: Fredrick Augustine of Mullins, and Woody Jones of Pennsylvania; adopted by lovegranddaughters: Donald Jones, Lakeview, SC and Brenda Johnson of Pennsylvania; a special friend and caregiver Willie Mae Flemming of Mullins; special friends: Carrie Wheeler of Mullins, Laura Leonard of Mullins and a hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and community members.
