~Obituary~
Mrs. Blanche Lois “Lus” Brewton, 96, beloved mother, grandmother, great grand mother, and great, great, great grandmother went on to glory on November 27, 2020 at McLeod Hospice Hospital in Florence, SC.
“Miss. Lus” as she was affectionately called, was born August 25, 1924 in Dillon County, to the late Will and Lottie Burroughs.
At an early age, Lus joined the Everbee Baptist Church and was a dedicated life long member. She was a member and also treasurer of the Senior Usher’s ministry and faithfully served in this capacity until her health declined. In her commitment and desire to fulfill her calling as an usher; Lus would dress out in her usher’s uniform and assist the ushers in any way that she could, when she no longer was able to stand. She was married to the late Ernest Brewton and to this union ten children were born.
She leaves behind to cherish loving memories and legacy of love, seven children: Curlena Brewton of Floydale, SC, Andrew “Bud” Brewton (Dorothy) of Bristol, PA, Shirbey King of Mullins, SC, Robert Brewton (Joyce), Roddy Brewton, Charles Brewton (Justine) all of
Zion, SC and Pamela Brewton Gerald of Charlotte, NC. A very special “adopted” granddaughter, Denisha “Negirl” Bethea of Mullins, SC. Lus was blessed to have 29 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren, 20 great, great grandchildren, 2 great, great, great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Three children preceded her in death: Harvey “Wimp” Brewton,
Joyce Brewton and Angela Denise Brewton. As the last remaining sibling, Lus had five sisters and three brothers preceded in death: Willenor “Minnie” Burroughs, Elouise Williams Margie Holmes,
Doris Rogers, Kirby Seal Paisley, and Mary Elizabeth Burroughs Legette; brothers Gonzele Burroughs, Gordon Burroughs and Hobbs Burroughs.
