Bessie Gue Davis

     Mrs. Bessie Gue Davis daughter of the late Sam Murray and Lizzie T. Graves was born April 8, 1940 in Horry County, SC. She departed this life on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Carolina Hospital Systems in Marion, SC.

     Bessie attended the public school system of Britton’s Neck, SC. She worked in the fields at an early age, and then she worked at several factories jobs. She last worked for Ocean Dunes; Sand Dunes laundry room facility until she retired.

     Bessie lived in Brooklyn, NY for the majority of her adult life until returning to Britton’s Neck, SC in 1978.

     Bessie was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Willie Jr. Davis. To this union two children were born; one which precedes her in death, Llewellyn Davis. Also, two brothers: Gonza Lee and James Graham Graves.

     She leaves to cherish fond memories, one daughter: Vanessia (Phillip) Moore of the home; four sisters: Remel Gause of Florence, SC, Starlene Horne, Henretta (Thomas, Jr.) Hemingway, Betty (James W) Moore, and one brother: Henry (Mary) Graves all of Boston, MA; one sister-in-law: Joanna (Joe) Moore of Britton’s Neck, SC and one brother-in-law: Levoy Davis of Coco, FL; three grandchildren: Exavier (Lakeithia), Byron (Crystal) and Syrabrazlia (Cornelius); three great grandchildren: Cashmere, Ja’vion and Zaeona; one who was like a granddaughter: Shadonna Anderson; a stepdaughter: Mary Ann Gause; a stepson: Fulton Graves, and one like a stepdaughter: Patricia Singletary; two who were like adopted daughters: Patricia Gause and Myra Bartell; a Godson: Damon Moore; a very special cousin: Shular Graves; four special friends: Brenda Singletary, Anna Mae Holmes, Mozenia Bacchus and Irene Rogers; close cousins: Mazie Woodberry and Priscilla Rogers; and a host of step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
