Anita Louise Washington (Arnetha Salena Washington) was born on March 29, 1941 in Mullins, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Arnette and Janie S. Washington. Anita departed this life on Friday, November 1, 2024 after an extended illness.
Anita graduated from Palmetto High School in Mullins and attended Morris College in Sumter, South Carolina, obtaining a degree in Education. Anita taught 3rd grade Math at Lake View Elementary School.
Anita joined the St. Paul Baptist Church in Mullins, South Carolina at an early age.
Anita was married to Franklin Timmons, Sr. and from this union were born five children: Cynthia, Annette, Cheryl, Franklin, Jr. and Carol Jeanette.
Anita worked as a telephone operator in Baltimore, Maryland but returned to Mullins, South Carolina and worked as a cook (her passion) at various restaurants such as Pee Dee Lodge in Nichols, South Carolina.
Once she retired, she became a caregiver to several friends in her neighborhood. During the last years of her life, her health started to decline, she was cared for by John, Cynthia, Kevin and Bryan Canty.
Anita was preceded in death by two children: Carol Jeanette Timmons and Franklin Timmons, Jr.; two sisters: Minnie M. Washington and Daisy L. Cristaldi; three brothers: James D. Washington, Ernest Washington and Roosevelt Washington.
Anita leaves to cherish her memories: Cynthia (John) Canty of Florence, SC; Annette (Robert) Davis of Dallas, GA; Cheryl (Victor) Levy of Baltimore, MD; one sister: Mrs. Janie Ruth Johnson of Washington, DC; eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and a special devoted friend, Sophronia Rutling of Marion, SC.
