~ The Obituary ~

    Winford Lee Gorewas called home on July 14, 2019. He was born June 14, 1966. He attended Green Sea Floyds public schools in Horry County.

     He began his military career in October 1984, when he joined the Marine Corps and worked as a Helicopter Mechanic and as a Recruiter until 1992.

     In 2003, he entered the Army Reserve as a Drill Sergeant, until he retired with the rank of Master Sergeant, in July 2018. This ended his military career of twenty-five dedicated years. He also served as a Sergeant with the Marion Police Department for four years, where he held many titles.

     He was very active in the community where he served as a Past Master of Progressive #234 Masonic Lodge, Holy Royal Arch Mason, Past Patron of the Order of Eastern Star and a member of The American Legion Post #312 of Alabama.

     He had a passion for fixing and working on things, using his hands and a love for cooking. He was VERY attentive to details. He loved spending time with his family and friends. His world revolved around his kids, grandkids, family and serving diligently in the military. 

     He was preceded in death by his mother: Rebecca Gore; stepfather: Roosevelt Gerald; and stepbrother: Roger Gerald.

     He leaves to cherish fond loving memories to his spouse: Charmain W. Gore (SC); father: Thelbert Gore (SC); his children: Eric Farris (NC), Ashaunda (Timothy) Jones (TX), Kennard Smalls (SC), Cerea Smalls (SC), Gabrielle Gore (GA), Brandon Gore (SC) and Winniford Gore (GA); a special nephew: Jakell Pyatt; siblings: Leverne Bryant (NC), Jerry Bryant (NC), Karl Gore (SC) and Fonzie Rane’ (Jessie) Gore (SC); three stepbrothers; four stepsisters; two special brothers: Ricky Curry (SC) and Roy Cody (GA) and a host of grandkids, nieces, nephews.
