Samuel Staggers Obituary

~ The Obituary ~

     Mr. Samuel Leroy Staggers, Sr. (Sonny Boy), entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 10:00 p.m. at the Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Fork, South Carolina. He was born on February 3, 1931 in Greeleyville (Williamsburg County) South Carolina to the late Mrs. Lessie Louise Croskey Jones and the late Herbert Moser Staggers.

     He attended Williamsburg County Schools. He later married Mrs. Myrtis Nadine (Burgess) Staggers of Greeleyville. During this union seven children were born. She preceded him in death in April 1997.

     They moved to Mullins in the early 1950’s and joined Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Mullins. He later joined the New Covenant Church of Christ and was a faithful member until his health declined. He worked at Mullins Hospital for over 35 years.

     He leaves to cherish fond memories of his wife, Mrs. Emma Smith of Mullins, SC; his children: Samuel (Chantal) Staggers, Jr. of St. Vaast, Belgium, Herbert (Gloria) Staggers of Tacoma, Washington, Rev. Donald (Evangelist Hattie) Staggers of Mullins, SC, Kelvin Keith (Carolyn) Staggers of Mullins, SC and Darren (Sandra) Staggers of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; one daughter: Jennifer (Ronnie) Furman of Oklahoma City, OK; one son who preceded him in death: Ronald Staggers, seven step-children, twelve grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, great-great grands, cousins and friends.
