~ Obituary of Robert “Vern” Oliver ~

~His Favorite Scripture~

     Mr. Robert “Vern” Oliver is a son of Mrs. Iona Oliver and the late Mr. Ulysses Oliver. He was born in Mullins, SC on September 14, 1950. He departed this life on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at his home. He attended the public schools of Horry County. His immediate employment was with Mr. Greg Huggins and the late Mr. Maxie Huggins.

     He accepted Christ in his young adult years and joined High Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Wayne Spain. He was a faithful church worker as Chairman of the Trustee Ministry. His favorite spiritual sayings included: “I am not giving up. Giving up is not an option.”

     He was married to Mrs. Ernestine Blakley Oliver for over thirty years. Loved ones who are left to cherish his loving memories include his wife, Mrs. Ernestine Blakley Oliver of the home; three sons: Gary (Dareen) Blakley of Holly Hill, SC, Christopher Richburg of Nichols, SC and Jamey Gillard of the home; two daughters: Sharon Oliver (deceased), and Cotina Gillard of Nichols, SC; three sisters:  Betty Evans (deceased), Julia Coatney (deceased) and Rosa O. Pope of Nichols, SC; six brothers: Bobby (Cindy) Oliver of Norfolk, VA, Larry (Mable) Oliver of Aynor, SC, Charles Oliver of Loris, SC, Frank Oliver of Longs, SC, Jerry Oliver of Norfolk, VA and Perry (Peggy) Oliver of Nichols, SC; twenty grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Included in his life were some loving children who he helped raise and loved as his own grandchildren: Terrell Dixon, Derrick Phillips, Jarious Campbell and Shantavis Hillard. The pages of life reflect a kind-hearted man. We are blessed to have been included in the life story of:
