Randy Crawford Obituary

~ The Obituary ~

     Mr. Randy Leon Crawford was born June 8, 1966 in Marion County to Blossie Crawford, Jr. and Mary France Riggins Crawford of Rains, SC. Randy departed his early home on February 3, 2018 in Carolinas Hospital System, Florence, SC.

     Randy was preceded in death by his precious daughter Ranika Laquinna Crawford and his father Blossie Crawford, Jr. His sister Vine Boatwright and brothers: James Sanders and Gurley Riggins.

     Randy was a member of Bethlehem AME Church for many years where he was a Trustee. Later in life he moved his membership to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with his wife and was baptized on October 8, 2006 under the leadership of Rev. Stephen Brown. He was active in church on the Usher Board, the Brotherhood Club and the Church Parking Lot Attendant. He loved his church and church family.

     He was married to Sylvia Williams Crawford for thirty-two years. To this union two children were born, Ranika Laquinna Crawford, preceded him in death, Alexis Symore Crawford.

     Randy was a graduate of Terrell’s Bay High School in 1984. After graduating, Randy enlisted in the US Navy. Randy obtained the rank of E-5 Second Class Petty Officer and worked as Work Center Supervisor on the USS John Kennedy C-V67.

     After graduation, Randy’s education included:

Florence-Darlington Technical College with an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Criminal Justice Technology. He made the Dean’s List and President’s List twice;

Ashford University with a Bachelor in Social Work and Criminal Justice. He graduated cum laude;  Certifications: Class I LE Law Enforcement Certification, Homicide Investigation, Officer

Survival, Detective Survival, Detective Survival, Detective Level I, and Criminal Investigation Case Management.

     Randy’s Professional Career:

Mullins Police Department – Shift Supervisor, 5 years

Marion County Sheriff Department – Criminal Cases, 10 years

Marion County Magistrate Office – Constable, 10 years

Marion County Sheriff Department – Deputy

Marion County Sheriff Department – Investigator

Coastal Carolina – Campus Police

Randy served 25 plus years in Law Enforcement.

     Randy leaves to cherish fond and beautiful memories his devoted and loving wife Sylvia Williams Crawford and sweet and devoted daughter Alexis Symone Crawford (Chris) of the home; his mother: Mary France Riggins Crawford of Rains, SC; siblings: Jerry (Malika) Crawford of Rains, SC, Gloria (Edgar) Butler of Orangeburg, SC, Mary (Leroy) Crawford of Marion, SC, Carol Carolyn (Damon) Anderson of Florence, SC, Elizabeth Gause of Marion, SC, Donald Smith and Corintheus Williams both of Rains, Betty Bristow Crawford and Henry Gause of Marion, SC; maternal aunts and uncles: Tryfenner Gerald of Rains, SC, Louise (Willie Mack) Williams of Penderboro, SC, Fannie Nichols of Wilmington, NC, Bernice Riggins of Florence, SC, Christain (Victor) Long of Conway, SC, Jerome Riggins and Richard (Lisa) Riggins of Aynor, SC, L.B Riggins of Leland, NC; paternal aunts: Doris C. Brown of Camden, NJ, Marie C. Brantley of Philadelphia, PA, Ella Mae Horton and Sherby (Willie) Eaddy of Wilmington, NC, Norma C (Sammie) Burwick of Myrtle Beach, SC and Joyce Crawford of Asheville, NC; sisters and brothers in law: Annette Covington and Nathaleen Hasty, Dorothy (Dexter) Vandroff, Nathaniel (Lennora) Willams, Jr. all of Mullins, SC and Kelvin (Jamie) Gerald of Conway, SC; two godsons: Marcus Finkley and Andra Rowell; godparents: Mary and Johnny Williams of Washington, DC
