Reverend James F. Mason was born September 14, 1931 in Fork, South Carolina to the late James and Albertena Mason. James departed his life on June 23, 2017 at the Carolinas Hospital System in Marion, South Carolina.
James “Fetex” believed, accepted and confessed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age.
James graduated from Columbus High School in Lake View, South Carolina, South Carolina State College and the United States Army. He was employed as a teacher. He was a retired Pastor at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Portsmouth, Virginia. James was a member of Everbee Lodge #331.
James married the late Bernice Reaves. To this union one daughter was born, Brenda Joyce Ali. Both his wife and daughter precedes him in death. His brother Willie B. Mason also precedes him in death.
James leaves to cherish his memories his granddaughters: Jamila (Robert) Payton and Mana (Harry) Ali; three great grandsons: Robert Payton, Jr., Jamaal Payton and Cameron Carter; one great granddaughter: Ayanna Payton; two sisters: Camay Carthens of Mullins, SC, Deloris (George) Smith of Bronx, NY and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
