Starlene Hornes

~ Obituary ~

     Mrs. Starlene Horne, daughter of the late Sam Murray and Lizzie T. Graves, was born June 2, 1932 in Marion County, South Carolina. She departed this life on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Brigham’s and Women’s Shapiro Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.

     Starlene attended the public-school system in Britton’s Neck, South Carolina. She started working in the fields at an early age.

     Starlene joined Bethel AME Church at an early age, she continued to put her faith in God through all her life.

     Starlene left Britton’s Neck as a young adult where she moved to Florida. Starlene worked for many years in Florida as a housekeeper in the hospital system.

     Starlene is preceded in death by one sister: Bessie G. Davis; two brothers: Gonza Lee and James Graham Graves.

     She leaves to cherish her fond and loving memories one son: John Graves; three sisters: Remel Gause of Florence, SC, Henretta (Thomas, Jr.) Hemingway, Betty (James W.) Moore both of Boston, MA and one brother: Henry (Mary) Graves of Fairmont; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and a very special friend for over thirty years: Ms. Jeanette Strand of Boston, MA.
